Mi propuesta: El accidente fue resulta de un malentendido.

Can anyone explain to me the distinction between...la resulta...and... el resultado...in this context?   qfreed

The accident was the result of a misunderstanding.

No comprendo por qué el diccionario no menciona malentendido como el participio pasado (adjetivo) del verbo malentender. Solo menciona la forma sustantiva. ¿No se puede usarla como adjetivo o voz pasivo?

I don't understand why the dictionary doesn't mention "malentendido" as the past participle of the verb "malentender". It only mentions the noun form. Can't it be used as an adjective or passive voice?

Sus comentarios fueron malentendidos. His comments were misunderstood. ???????????????????????????

Of interest: incomprendido=unappreciated (misunderstood)

On a similar note, if you looked up "misunderstanding", shouldn't you find the present participle of "malentender" malentiendo listed? misunderstanding, but not the noun form. (I don't want to call it the gerund as that makes it even more confusing, between gerundio (adverb)/gerund (noun).)

Es comprensible que de vez en cuando un malentendido puede pasar, porque se trata de generaciones diferentes.

It is understandable that from time to time a misunderstanding can happen, because we are dealing with different generations.
