JennyO, our dear longtime friend, rest in peace

Postby Heidita » Wed Sep 21, 2016 6:22 pm

Our very good friend on this forum JennyO from Australia passed away on the 12th of September, as I just found out. Yet another blow to our small family :(

I asked Ray, also from Australia, to get in touch with her, phoning her if possible. Thanks, Ray, for letting me know the bad news.

Jenny and I met on Spanishdict. She always posted on the Word of the Day where I was the corrector. then I sent her a letter...hey, you stop using the translator or you are out of here! I really thought she did use a translator, the words were sorta put together, sentences made no sense, so I was annoyed.
Well, she wrote back just as annoyed that no way she was using a translator and she was just doing her best, being a complete beginner.
Ever since we were friends, we spoke on skype all the time, she participated with her beautiful British accent on dozens of skype group chats, she was awesome.
She also learnt Spanish! She even went , I believe it was, to Costa Rica where she met an online friend and she practised her Spanish and had a great time.

I last spoke to her on the 31st of August, she was confident then... :lost: :lost:

I know she was loved and appreciated. Please remember her in your prayers.

This has been such a devastating month....

I appreciate all English corrections, especially on style! :)

It has indeed been a harsh time for our little community.

Very sad with this news. Heidita, if you happen to get in touch with her relatives, please convey our condolences.

My heart hurts to hear of the passing of Jenny O. I am grateful that she is no longer experiencing any pain. We spoke and wrote often of our shared love of horses, and our shared love for our little Spanish community. Ray, please send our love and condoleces to her family.

Thank you Heidi for voicing your concern to me over the absence of contact from ( JennyO ) It forced me to inquire from her family and I learned the dreadful news of her passing .

Wendy was her real name ,'Jenny 'was the name of her first horse which she owned and rode in middle age her first time on a horse , she loved it and persevered as only she could and eventually with her darling husband of 50 years 'Gerry" she learned the art of 'Dressage " and then they opened their own horse stud ,"Lauriston Park" . Everything that Wendy did she excelled at , but more importantly her warm giant heart and vibrant personality touched all who met and loved her, she was an extraordinary woman , mother, wife , equestrian and bloody bonzer mate.

Her family told me that she regarded the time spent here with her "Spanish community" as one of the most rewarding times of her life . Heidi and I will send to them our words of condolence which may ease them through this time of grief .

That's a lovely post from Ray.

Once again I am saddened to hear the tragic news. JennyO came across as a vibrant, enthusiastic and positive person. I thought she would beat her illness but sadly it was not to be.

My sympathies go out to her family. @-`- @-`-

It took me a while to get out of Gary's thread.. and now it's jenny's...
Jenny was kind, helpful, she'd always tell me how much she loved my Spanish pronunciation, she made me happy.. For me it's losing two friends in the same day, in the same hour.. A truly sad day.

Rest in peace, Jenny.

I joined this forum a year after it was formed. Jennyo posted regularly on the words of the day and picture of the day threads. She was clearly making a huge effort to improve her Spanish [which certainly improved] I heard her lovely voice when she joined in a thread recording pieces for Heidita's students. We exchanged brief PMs.
She was a happy, giving person. I remember the shock of her matter of fact post announcing her illness and her wish to distract herself by continuing to post - which she did.

How very sad that despite her positivity she died so soon. She will be missed so much here. I intend to reread her joyous posts from Costa Rica and pass on my heartfelt sympathy to her family and friends.

Another sad passing - I am so sorry to hear about. Jenny was so faithful to the forum and optimistic in fighting her illness that it doesn't seem right that she should be gone so soon. Rest in peace, Jenny.
