help needed with recordings...NEW UPDATE

Postby Heidita » Thu Mar 23, 2017 9:47 am

Hi everybody, I wonder if you could help me out again. I have yet another student, same exam, same difficulty than as the last one.

My previous student passed this very difficult civil servant exam, environmental issues, ...this new student, Náyade, is horrified and seriously frightened.

So if you can help me out, that would be great.

I need all kind of accents.

I will send the texts to you per PM, so as not to repeat any.

:thanks :thanks
I appreciate all English corrections, especially on style! :)

Envíame uno, por favor.

Ok, I sent you back a sound file. Actually, I almost sent you a YouTube video with pictures along with the reading, but then, I thought that she might just want the audio file to listen to on a mobile device. Too bad, I was feeling creative. I had some nice pictures relative to the reading.

Shoot, I wish that you had mentioned that earlier. I started out using Windows Voice Recorder and ended up using WavePad sound editor. Not a problem, however, I uploaded the file to Vocaroo.com and they converted it successfully. I emailed you the Vocaroo file.

Hi everybody, thanks a lot @-`- @-`- , quentin, saffron, Patch and brad...your reading has been of great help :)

Ok, she did the listening and translation bit.

Look, these were the texts.

http://www.mapama.gob.es/es/ministerio/ ... 454916.pdf

http://www.mapama.gob.es/es/ministerio/ ... 454917.pdf

I believe this student was REALLY lucky, as the texts were not only have the size of last year's exam, but they had changed the native speaker, who this time read loud and clear, and slowly.

the last part is the oral exam :doh :doh

I am struggling , she is not Listening to me, which sounds odd, why would you pay a private teacher if you want to do it "your way", right? Especially considering that "her way" is going to make her fail.

Example:
question: What is your favourite food?
answer: My favourite food is "Cocido Montañes" (in Spanish ... :fant )
question: ok , please tell me the ingredients and how you cook this dish.

This was her face:

No way can I get through to her, she CANNOT speak Spanish in the exam, and, due to her level, she needs to keep it simple, no mistakes...

anyway, will keep you updated.

Re: help needed with recordings...UPDATE

Those are far more straightforward than the text I had to read!

I don't see a problem with giving the answer to food you like in Spanish if it is a national dish, but I would expect her to say which is a stew made from or by ...

I am glad I don't have to take exams.

I hope she does well and understands a teacher knows the technique of passing the exam.

Yes! At least I can read these texts in a natural voice. Anyone who dares to tackle the other text.....as a non-native speaker....has my admiration. Fingers crossed for her

I didn't understand all my text and had lots of acronyms. I think this time Heidita got each of us to read a different one.

Re: help needed with recordings...NEW UPDATE

Postby Heidita » Tue May 09, 2017 6:20 pm

Finally my student sat her exam.

I guess she did pretty well in her writing part, translation and summery.

Today was her "speaking".

The first question was great:

Tell us something about your previous job.

I am sure she did that well, we had prepared that question over and over.

Second question:

Hablame de una persona bella, la de la belleza interior y que como creo que afecta el enfasis que se da a la belleza a la sociedad

Talk to me about a beautiful person, the inner beauty and how you think the emphasis on beauty affects society.

She had once said, during the classes: ok, so I don't understand the teacher ...I will ask her to rephrase and explain.
:fant :fant :fant :fant :fant :fant
That was me: FAINTING!

that is an absolute NO - NO!!! you simply CANNOT ask an examiner at this level to "explain what you mean".

So what did she do when she did not quite get the "inner " bit?
SHE ASKED THE TEACHER TO REPHRASE. :blue: :blue: :blue: :blue:

I am flabbergasted :??: :??: :??: :??: . And yes...this was the teacher's reaction:

I: ¿Te puso caras cuando pediste que te lo repitiera?
Ella: Si, si me puso caras...

I don't know what is going to happen, but no good vibes...why would anybody take a teacher and NOT FREAKING LISTEN TO HER??? :lost: :lost: :lost:

Will keep you updated.
